Each year, cyclists head out on a three-day ride across regional NSW as part of Royal Far West’s Ride for Country Kids (RFCK). The annual event raises vital funds and awareness for developmental, behavioural and mental health services, to help transform the lives of Australia’s country children. Since its inception over a decade ago the Ride has raised over $4.5 million.

This year’s Ride for Country Kids is set to be an incredible event, taking riders on a journey through our heartland in far west NSW — a region where Royal Far West has proudly worked for decades. The Ride begins in Parkes and travels through Manildra and Molong, before visiting schools and communities in Trundle and Eugowra, before finishing in Forbes.

These towns and the surrounding communities hold a special place in our history, with deep-rooted partnerships and enduring connections. Our presence in the region is strengthened by passionate volunteers who run local branches and our op-shops in Forbes and Parkes — longstanding community hubs that have supported our work for many years.

The 2026 Ride will be a celebration of what’s possible when communities come together. We’ll go beyond for country kids, ensuring that geography is never a barrier to their health, development, and future.

We're aiming to raise $500,000 to directly support the health and wellbeing of Australia's country kids.

We need your help to give these children the best start in life.

Why we ride

Royal Far West’s mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of children who live in rural and remote communities. Every Australian child deserves access to quality health, education and developmental care — but for many country kids, distance and a lack of local services stand in the way.

As a specialist child development service, we provide vital, evidence-informed care to help country kids thrive — through virtual care, in-community programs and disaster recovery initiatives.

In May 2026, we’ll be riding to connect even more country children with the assessments, therapies and supports they need.

We ride to raise funds, to raise awareness, and to go beyond — ensuring that where a child lives never limits their access to the care they need and deserve.

Who we ride for

Andy's Story

Andy is a bright, resilient seven-year-old from Far West NSW who loves sports and learning but sadly faced significant developmental challenges.

His struggles with anxiety, inattention, hyperactivity, emotional outbursts and sensory issues made his everyday life more difficult.

While Andy was fortunate to receive an initial diagnosis locally, the lack of follow up support services meant he had no access to ongoing occupational therapy and speech pathology, putting his progress and future at risk.

Thankfully, because of generous donors, Andy’s story took a turn for the better. His mother, Joan, reached out to Royal Far West, and in April 2024 Andy underwent a comprehensive multi-disciplinary assessment at our Centre for Country Kids in Manly.
